So it’s been a while since the last blog. I promised myself I wouldn’t let this lag so much, but it’s so much easier to update folks on Facebook and Twitter. Does anyone even read these blogs?

Oh well. Anyways a lot has happened since the last blog. If you’re a fan of our Facebook page and you follow us there then you probably know that we now have office space! We signed a 1-year lease on a 1200 sq. ft. complex at 69 St. Michael St. in Downtown Mobile. It wasn’t where we wanted to be exactly, as we rather would’ve preferred being on Dauphin St. or just off Dauphin St. at a high traffic location, but the reality is we don’t really need foot traffic for our business. The other locations we were scouting didn’t pan out quite as we hoped, and we settled for the spot that is way off the beaten path… but we kind of like it that way now.

You see the big reason we wanted Dauphin St. space was because of the popular Artwalks. Being right there and participating would bring a lot of potential clients through our doors, and that would’ve been clutch. Unfortunately we couldn’t get that space so we settled on the St. Michael spot. Well, I shouldn’t say we “settled” for it… we are actually in love with the spot. The reason is because it’s literally around the corner form the Kangal Gallery, just off Royal Street, which is just a couple blocks away from The Host Gallery. Both of these locations are relatively new, which means more galleries are moving further towards our neck of the woods, so we decided this location would actually be very beneficial since we would sort of be moving in on the ground floor.

We’re going to do our damndest to promote this area of downtown for the Artwalks. We already have several ideas of what we can do ourselves to entice people to hoof it down to Royal Street, but alas we can’t do these yet. Why? Being open. We don’t have anything in there yet. Hell we don’t even have power yet, but the fact that we’re not open is primarily the reason…. yeah, that seems accurate.

We have however settled on a design theme of the office, but you’ll just have to come by and sneak a peek when we get it all finished to find out what it is. Will it be modern? Will it be geeky? Will it be like your Grandmother’s kitchen? You’ll never know….. well that’s not true, you will know eventually.

I’m gonna stop talking about that now! Moving on!

We attended the South Alabama football game a couple weeks ago on Halloween weekend. We had a blast! We took a lot of photos and video and plan to make a compilation video of the tailgating experience. We figured there was a enough action footage, but not enough fan footage. The South Alabama tailgating experience is pretty big, and a whole lot of fun. We had press passes waiting for us so we also got some really cool shots during the game and in the tunnels by the player locker rooms and all that. Overall it was a really fun experience.

We’ve obviously got a whole lot on our plates right now so it’s really exciting. We’ve got several websites lined up and even a couple of film projects on the horizon. Also, if you see us out and about be sure ot ask us for our business card! That’s right, we finally got some, haha.

Anyways, that’s all for now. This is probably one of the most poorly written blogs ever, and I apologize for that! Kind of in a rush, hope the update was sufficient! Thanks kiddos!

So we talked with the festival organizer today ab out shooting some footage for Woofstock and we got the green light, and they were excited about it! And you know what? We are, too. For one, we love dogs. I mean who doesn’t? The only people who don’t like dogs are cat people, and no one likes cat people…

Okay, that’s not true. I know many cat people and like all of them, and their cats. I apologize to any wonderful cat people out there. Let’s stop talking about cats, though!

So what is Woofstock? It is in its 6th year and is a festival located in Cathedral Square in Downtown Mobile and will be on Sunday the 24th (2 days from now). Basicaly you can just bring your dog out there and hang out with other dogs while enjoying live music from local bands and singers and other pleasant activities. I know that OutFit, one of our wonderful clients, will be out there promoting their business and having little sponsored events. I think they’ll be bringing out the running parachutes to have races for the kids, so between that and the other normal festivities it sounds like it’s going to be a blast.

Some of the live music includes The Rez, Kristy Lee, Eric Erdman (of Ugli Stick fame), and Top Of The Orange, who we coincidentally taped during their excellent Bayfest performance. So there’s no shortage of entertainment going on out there so if you get a chance, be sure to check it out.

Also be on the lookout for us. We’ll be the dapper gentlemen wearing tuxedos and bowt… sorry, just got word we won’t be wearing tuxedos. We will, however, be wearing some fancy new Jolt Productions polo shirts and carrying around some of our new equipment. If you see a fella with a big red shoulder mount rig, a DSLR camera attached to it with a microphone, chances are that will be one of us. Come up and say hey, we promise we’ll have business cards this time!

Also, you might see us out there with this little guy. He’s my roommate’s Weimaraner puppy. His name is Bock, so come say hi to him if you see us out there!

So I installed TweetDeck on the ole computer here to manage my own personal Twitter account (@LoganBowes, which I use for fun), as well as Jolt’s twitter account (which you can see the feed of to the right, @JoltProductions) and my new JoltLogan account (@JoltLogan) which I will be using to post Jolt related updates that are related to the work I’m personally doing. Hopefully I can convince the other two knuckleheads to follow suit, but I digress.

I installed TweetDeck which is a Social Networking Management application. If there’s anyone like me (or us, as a company) that has more than one Twitter account, this is a legendary program to have access to. You can add accounts to your program and post Twitter updates from your desktop without having to log into twitter.com, which is a real nightmare if you have more than one account that you use on a regular occasion.

Not only is this useful for me personally, but as a company that offers social media management, this is absolutely incredible. Imagine you have 6 different clients that ask you to manage their Twitter accounts. Sure, you can do that. Now imagine how painstakingly annoying it would be to login to to each of them separately on Twitter.com one after the other just to make an update or two throughout the day. Nightmare. TweetDeck removes that nightmare and turns it into a pleasant dream.

So yeah, TweetDeck is an amazing application and even if you only have one account I recommend getting it. Why? Because it doesn’t handle just your Twitter account.

“What’s that?”, you say with curious excitement? Oh no, it also can manage your Facebook, FourSquare, LinkedIn, MySpace, and Buzz accounts (who the hell uses Buzz, anyways?). So if you also have a Facebook account in addition to your Twitter, TweetDeck can handle both, side by side. It really is a life saver.

What’s more is that it’s also compatible with smartphones. Well, Android and iPhones anyways. Sorry, Blackberry (actually, it will be available, I just don’t believe it is now). So you can also manage your accounts from your phone. How cool is that?

So there’s my ringing endorsement for this, as Joel would say all too often, killer-app. Do yourself a favor and get it!

Launch Day Madness

So it’s been about 10 hours since the launch as of this sentence being typed. What has happened so far? A lot of glowing support and reviews from our friends, for one, and we couldn’t be more pleased. We truly appreciate all the kind words we’ve been receiving. What’s even better is that during the website updating mayhem, Joel put out a feeler for some website work and we got 5 different people interested in getting a website done, which is awesome, especially when you consider we had 2 other websites already in the holster and ready to be called on. This is really good news for us.

What’s even better news is that Jolt is actually getting close to finding a brick & mortar location in downtown Mobile. What’s even more exciting is that we keep progressing forward and it’s at the point where it feels like we’re on a bullet train carrying 20 tons of explosive awesome.

There’s many big things in store for our future, and it’s nice to know we have amazing people to support us while we’re here on the ground floor. We thank you for that

It’s a new beginning for Jolt Productions! Welcome to our brand new website, complete with an updated portfolio and service list and full social media integration! Yes, we are plugged in to your internet and there’s nothing you can do about it!

So what’s new? Well let’s start with our portfolio. If you remember our old page, you remember we had two things in our portfolio… two things that were really old. It’s tough for a fledgling company to build an impressive portfolio without and major previous work. We’ve been busy these past 7 months though, so now we actually have something that some might dare say is *gasp* respectable! It’s a good feeling to be able to show potential clients what we’ve done and what we’re about for once. Now if we could only get some business cards made, amirite?

What else? Well, we have this here blog that we’ll be updating extensively as time goes on. What will be putting on it? Well, it’s going to be a cornucopia of things (yes, I just used the word cornucopia). One, we will be blogging about random things on occasion, but more often than not it will probably be relevant and pertinent to our business and/or our trade. We will definitely try and provide some sort of commentary or entertainment value to keep you knuckleheads coming back, though so be on the lookout for that.

We’re also going to be getting more involved in the social networking sites (Facebook & Twitter primarily), in fact our Twitter feed can be seen on the side bar of most of the pages of our site. Do us a favor and follow us, who knows what kind of goodies you’ll get from our Twitter feed (I smell spontaneous discounts!). Also, if you haven’t “Liked” us yet on Facebook… why not? We’re kind of awesome, so you shouldn’t hesitate to rush on over to our Facebook page and get on the bandwagon. Our bandwagon is going places, and there’s still plenty of space in the back next to Uncle Ephraim, kiddo. Don’t mind his body odor, you’ll get used to it.

I should note real quick that our page, while fully informative and awesome, is not 100% finished. I mean, it’s finished, but it’s never really finished. We are a rapidly growing business and we have rapidly changing ideas that can be implemented into this site. We’re looking to add a whole lot more to our page, so it should pay to check back on a regular basis. Or if you’re lazy like us, you could just oh, I don’t know, “Like” us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter, perhaps? Just a suggestion.

But yeah, we’re still tinkering with the website and it’s features, so there might be a little dust that remains to be settled from the new digs for a while. But don’t worry, we won’t cause too much of a ruckus.

Okay, enough of my witty banter, welcome to the future of Jolt Productions. You’ve earned it!

P.S. This post, and probably several other areas of this website are likely riddled with typos, and for that I apologize. If you wanna do some proofreading for us, comment here and tell us what we dun goofed.
